If you run in the social networking circles that I do, you see a lot people sharing images and quotes in an attempt to say something about their experience of life as a being of depth and complexity. This kind of image sharing is not trying to convince anyone of anything specific, as with a political post or a humorous image of a kitteh. Rather they are seeking to express the reality of abstraction that we all come from.
“Abstraction demands more from me than realism. Instead of reproducing something outside of me, now I go inward and use everything I’ve learned thus far in my life.”
- Susan Avishai
